Watch two Ford Mustangs set quarter-mile records on 275 and 315 Drag Radials
Burton apparently ran into trouble at the end of the sprint, when parts of the front of the Mustang started flying through the air, but he didn’t let go of the throttle until he crossed the line. arrival. Fortunately, the parachute worked very well and he was able to stop the car safely at the end of the track.
Don wasn’t the only rider to set a new radial drag benchmark this weekend. Manny Buginga, who drives a dragster based on a fourth generation Ford Mustang, reset the record in the 315 radial class. He finished the race in an astonishing 5.75 seconds, stopping the trap speed clock at 228 mph.
The speed of the trap suggests Manny could have been faster as 315 radial cars typically hit over 240 mph (386 km / h), but it’s still a formidable benchmark for this class.
Buginga is no stranger to the 275 radial race either, having set some benchmarks in the past. He was among the first to go the distance in the low six. In 2020, he set a new record in the X275 class at Shakedown Nationals XVIII.
