Truck driver Abdullateef Akilo cited for I-70 truck crash – CBS Denver
(CBS4) – The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) issued a reckless driving summons to a 22-year-old truck driver following a violent accident on the west side of Floyd Hill last weekend.
Abdullateef Akilo’s platform sank into the descent of Interstate 70 and roadside jersey barriers on Saturday afternoon. The cab of the truck was flattened and separated from the trailer which carried five cars. The trailer jumped over the jersey barriers and descended an embankment toward Highway 6, overturning vehicles along the way. The debris has almost reached Clear Creek.

Akilo, of Houston, Texas, has a tentative hearing date in late November or early December, according to CSP Trooper Josh Lewis. Akilo can pay the associated fines remotely and resolve the legality, Lewis explained, but will have to appear in court if he wants to challenge the charge.
Akilo suffered minor injuries in the crash. Traffic lanes on I-70 and Highway 6 were briefly closed. The recovery operation for the spilled cargo has been extended, according to the CSP.
One of the witnesses to the accident called it “terrifying”.

This person, “SRTCassidy” on Twitter, called 9-1-1.
“The impact lifted the truck and trailer off the ground, hit the barrier again, and then the trailer detached from the truck. I saw the trailer go through the barrier and saw the underside of the truck, ”SRTCassidy told CBS4 in a Twitter message. “I made the call at 1:54. It was intense. My daughter was particularly upset.
