The Derby Festival queen-size bed races return on Monday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Derby festival goers will be getting into bed tonight, but not sleeping. Instead, they will compete in the Ashley HomeStore Kentucky Derby Festival Queen Size Races. This year’s event is only open to attendees, not the public, due to COVID-19 protocols.

To match this year’s theme of “Sweet Dreams”, contestants are encouraged to decorate their beds and wear costumes based on their favorite desserts, candies and sweets.
The bed run course will take place outside the Kentucky Expo Center, near the Old Cardinal Stadium site. During a pre-race parade at 6 p.m., participants will have the chance to showcase their adorable costumes and bed. The race will start at 7 p.m.
This year’s course features a whole new drag racing format with two 600-foot divisions – the Fun Division and the Champions Division. Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the best three times, as well as awards for “Cone Eater”, “Best Decorated Bed” and “Most Entertaining”.
