TOPEKA (KSNT) – Two men were taken to hospital on Thursday evening after a shooting near the Topeka rescue mission.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., Topeka police arrived at the 600 block of North Kansas Avenue. The photos showed cars and fire trucks from the Topeka Police Department around the building of the homeless shelter.
The Topeka Police Department said officers found a man with a single gunshot wound and another with a head injury. They were both taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police set up a crime scene tape under the Kansas Avenue bridge next to the homeless shelter, according to a KSNT reporter at the scene.

Upon investigation, police discovered that a brawl had taken place east of Kansas Avenue on Northeast Curtis Street, which resulted in injuries to both men.
