Rallying call to ‘catch a jab’ this weekend at walk-in clinics before coronavirus restrictions change
With the warm weather forecast for the weekend, pop-up clinics will be held in recreation centers, malls, parks and other locations in the Northwest.
Thousands of people who received their first dose in a vaccination wave eight weeks ago, in response to rising infection rates, are now being encouraged to come forward for their second dose.
More than 8.6 million vaccines have been issued in the North West to date, out of more than 68 million vaccines issued by the NHS in England.
Dr Linda Charles-Ozuzu, Regional Director of Commissioning, said: “From shopping malls to parks, our amazing staff, as well as our wonderful volunteers, are doing all they can to make sure this is easier than ever. for people, especially young adults, to protect themselves.
“We would like to remind people that it is never too late to get the vaccine, even if it has been a while since you have been invited for the vaccine. Whether you are making an appointment or coming to one of the many walk-in clinics in the Northwest this weekend, we would love to welcome you.
“If you still have questions, that’s okay. You will be able to discuss any questions or concerns with a healthcare professional before you get the vaccine. So please come to one of our sites this weekend, get your shot and get ready for summer. “
Dr Nikki Kanani, GP, NHS Medical Director for Primary Care and Assistant ORS for Immunization Program, said: ‘As July 19 approaches, there has never been a more important time to get your first vaccine, it protects not only you and your family but also your friends and those around you.
“So while you enjoy the great weather that we expect this weekend, do your part and ‘take a hit’ too. “
