Confirmation of production of the MG Cyberster was not announced by the British car brand itself, but by its Chinese parent group SAIC. The company had launched a crowdfunding campaign for the project through the MG CyberCUBE platform, where interested buyers could donate $ 156 to secure the first batch of Cubersters.
The automaker received about 5,000 investors investing 5 million yuan, or about $ 780,000. However, this amount is unlikely to support the manufacture of a single MG Cyberster, let alone 5,000. But SAIC believes it has sufficient initial interest in the electric sports car concept to bring it into series production. .
Speaking of the concept car, it gets a fluid design. The Cyberster showcased in Shanghai had classic round “ Magic Eye ” LED headlights that open when turned on. There is a thin grille design with a chunky mesh pattern, which reminds us of the original MGB Roadster from the 1960s.
Alloy rims provide a muscular vibe, while the rear features Union Jack-inspired LED taillights. The overall design of the MG Cyberster looks very elaborate.
It’s unclear how many original design cues from the drastic-looking MG Cyberster will reach the production model. Additionally, the company has yet to reveal a production timeline for the Cuberster.
MG Cyberster is said to be able to travel 800 km on a single charge and it can accelerate to 0-100 km / h in under three seconds.
