Mercedes leaves Formula E
Last year, Motorsports.com announced that the Silver Arrows would withdraw from Formula E after the 2022 season. Mercedes refused to sign up to Gen3 rules as a factory. There are also rumors that team principal and Mercedes motorsport boss Ian James and Toto Wolff are looking to sell the independent team operation.
This decision to leave Formula E will mean that Venturi Racing’s client team will have to find another powertrain partnership. Additionally, the rest of the Mercedes team also sought a new power unit deal.
Additionally, Mercedes will kick off the upcoming season as the reigning Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Champions.
Mercedes unveil livery for Formula E campaign
As a reveal of Mercedes’ 2022 Formula E campaign, the racing team has launched its latest Formula E car. Mercedes’ long-awaited campaign is finally out, and most Formula E fans can’t stay calm. Mercedes announced the 2022 Challenger during pre-season testing at the Valencia Marina.
Revised homologation rules ensure that the Silver Arrow 02 is retained. It was led by Nick Chester and Mercedes F1 KERS architect Pierre Godof. In this season’s livery, Mercedes introduced some minor changes.
Apart from this, it has also included software updates on the machine. These minor adjustments ensure that the network adapts to a power of 20 kW in race mode. The blue and black paint job of its new livery gets as amazing as it gets.
The campaign also suggests that the team retained de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne as drivers. Nick Chester commented that the team was able to correct the basic geometry of the car.
