Ortonville-On November 20, the Michigan Conservative Coalition held a “Let’s Go Brandon” rally at Crossman Park in downtown Ortonville. The event was scheduled for about a week.
The expression “Let’s go Brandon” comes from a journalist who misheard a song during a NASCAR race. The crowd was chanting “(explanatory) Joe Biden”, but the reporter said she thought they were saying “let’s go Brandon” to support one of the race car drivers. The phrase was quickly adopted by those who disagree with the current presidential administration.
“I live in Lake Orion and had a friend who drove through Brandon Township and called me to tell me he thought it might be a good place for a rally,” said the organizer, Dr Phil O’Halloran. “So I contacted MCC and we got them back together in about a week. “
Although there has been a short delay for the event, there will still be around 100 people in attendance to see live music, enjoy the food, and see the Trump Unity Float.
“We have come here to support freedom and to show our aversion to the current administration,” said David Fenich, a participant.
The goal of the MCC is to advocate for more conservative political leaders to be elected, as well as for more conservative political policies.
“We wanted to bring people together and educate them about the political opposition,” O’Halloran said. “We appreciate the township and the village for making the festival possible.
