Lambo Urus drags Cullinan into unnecessary Luxobarge race we’ve all been waiting for
Airstrip, racing driver (and a friend), plus some of the most powerful and expensive SUVs in the world. Come to think of it, a meeting between a Lamborghini Urus and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan shouldn’t come as a surprise in such a place.
After all, owners will likely end up seeing each other on the way to their private jets. But this time around, unlike other occasions, no aircraft visit Daniel Abt’s latest video (embedded below). Instead, the Urus and Cullinan gathered on the small airstrip for a challenge that wasn’t unexpected, though it remains highly unlikely in the real world: a drag race (or two, as well. than a rolling battle).
Come to think of it, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan doesn’t stand a chance against the imposing yet agile Lamborghini Urus. After all, the latter was built as the ultimate “Super SUVWhile the first is the successful ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ response to Bentley’s Bentayga. Still, the German racing driver (English subtitles are not entirely necessary, but they are still readily available, as always) tried to make this race as fair as possible, bringing a black Cullinan badge to the skirmish in ‘a quarter of a mile.
A quick glance at the tech cards (seen at 1:35) will easily show that this is still a very lopsided encounter. The Cullinan Black Badge is much heavier than the Lambo Urus, very expensive and also a bit underpowered. But is anyone going to miss the fun? We didn’t think so either, as it’s not every day that you see a huge luxury barge being put to shame … by another bulky / expensive / almost-as-irrational SUV.
So, without further ado, the first round of drag racing starts at 4:54 a.m., after the usual sound check. As expected, the Urus takes the lead early on, regardless of Cullinan’s black badge upgrades (“extra power and torque, refined dynamic handling“). The Rolls-Royce suffered an equally severe “beat” on the second lap from 6:09 am, and even roller racing lacks the power to change the (equally) obvious result.
Indeed, we could have seen – or rather heard – this flawless victory from the start, as the sound battle (from 3.20am) was easily and resolutely won by the Italian representative of the luxobarge SUV!
