June 5 “Cobra Day” to present the largest annual exhibition in the United States
MARTINEZ, Calif., May 7, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Free to all spectators, car enthusiasts will see a record-breaking display of Shelby Cobras and other classic cars from Ford Motor Company starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 5 at ” Cobra Day ”in Martinez, California. This will be the largest annual exhibition of Shelby Cobras originals in one location in the United States. The show runs until 2 p.m. and will feature over 125 Shelby Cobras and other Ford cars. Spectators who donate will be able to enjoy a ride in an original Shelby Cobra or another classic Ford in the “Final Cruise Ride” at the end of the show.
At 1:45 p.m., spectators and car enthusiasts participating in Cobra Day will see if they are the lucky winner by winning a rare 50th anniversary Cobra Roadster Shelby 289 FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile – International Automobile Federation) (or $ 50,000)! The 289 FIA Cobra Roadsters are among the cars. most important races in American racing history. Drivers such as Ken Miles, Bob Bondurant, Phil Hill, Dan Gurney and others put the 289 FIA Cobra in the winner’s circle in the US and Europe.
This Cobra dashboard is signed by Allen Grant, Bob Bondurant and Pete Brock. This Cobra, serial number CSX7962, is also listed in the Shelby American Automobile Registry. The 289 FIA Cobra Roadsters were the most advanced Cobra racing cars. Modifications included a new instrument panel, widened front and rear fenders, chopped doors, new shocks, Halibrand pin drive wheels, and engine and differential oil coolers. The “bumps” on the rear trunk were to accommodate the FIA suitcase, which had to fit in the trunk according to FIA regulations.

Participants can enjoy the Cobra Day Show once a year and The Cobra Experience Museum during the same visit.
The Cobra Experience and Cobra Day will follow guidelines from Contra Costa, Calif., Covid County.
Proceeds go to The Cobra Experience, a non-profit museum dedicated to the promotion, curation, education and preservation of cars produced by Shelby American.
