Jeep Trackhawk attacks on Mustang, Redeye and Corvette have surprising mix of results

We all know that today most of the automotive world is about anything connected, even remotely, to SUVs, crossovers and trucks. There are, however, a few big exceptions. And most of them are present in this video (embedded below) of the Drag Racing and Car Stuff channel on YouTube.

While everyone is all the rage about the Ram TRX and the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, quarter-mile battles are best fought with something that has a bit more experience, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. For example, there is a trio of these monsters ready to go to war with the old stars.

Of course, whether the American quarter-mile sun has already set for the traditional coupe shape is still up for debate, especially since the Detroit Three still have a bunch of models to signal that the battle n is not over yet. And, as long as Ford produces Mustangs, Dodge continues to instill the Demon spirit in the Challenger, and GM allows Chevy to play with the Corvette as it pleases, it probably never will.

Yet this feature gives us a series of SUV vs. cut thrills as the high performance armed forces line up. The initial battle sees a silver Trackhawk (with a Texas plaque, of course) taking on a blue Mustang GT S550 and we can easily feel it’s just the warm-up lap after their tame 12.33 to 12.75s results. (SUV one, coupe zero).

Next (from 1:10 on) comes a fully camouflaged Grand Cherokee that collides with a stealth gray Mustang in an attempt to solidify the head. The Blue Oval does its best to recoup the initial loss, but its 11.53 second run is nowhere near the performance shown by the 10.45 second Jeep (so it’s two draws).

Starting at 1:53, we see the coupe team going through the Warriors and the next two rounds have the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye in the spotlight. They do it with elegance and poise. Just kidding, they’re furious for a revenge, which is quickly implemented via some excellent ETs (10.49 and 9.72, respectively).

Because you can’t have a tie result when all-out war is involved, the bonus battle sees a black Trackhawk Chevrolet Corvette C7 starting at 4.30am … and this race finally settles the SUV faction’s case with a victory from 11:46 to 11:65.
