Jack Danaher and his wife Lisa have campaigned for several Supercharged Outlaws class cars in Australia and their last race is pretty wild. The 1955 Chevy Bel Air that Jack will be driving looks like a real Hot Wheels car and has the potential to go deep into the six second zone.

Jack started driving cars at the age of 16 and he hasn’t stopped. The cars Jack drove became more powerful as his skills progressed, and that’s what led him to the ranks of the Supercharged Outlaws.

“I’ve been racing in the Supercharged Outlaws class here in Australia for a number of years, starting with a blown dragster that raced in the 6.60. We had quite a bit of success with the dragster, but I decided to import a gated car from America. The 2004 Chevrolet Corvette I brought here was owned by Mike Maggio and we went 6.40-218 mph with it. We had a lot of fun with this car, ”says Jack.

The 1955 Chevy Bel Air is a style icon in the automotive world, when you turn one into a race car it exudes freshness. Jack had the opportunity to purchase this particular car and as he always loved the 1955 Chevy Belair, he jumped at the chance. The car has undergone a major update process since Jack bought it to prepare it for Supercharged Outlaws action and ultimately a jump into the Pro Mod race in Australia.

Jack built a 451 cubic inch HEMI to power the Bel Air which uses a short bridge TFX block, Callies crank, BME custom connecting rods and pistons. baby Brad 5 cylinder heads support the PSI Screw Blower and Deep Throat Injector Cap. Methanol is introduced into the engine through a Boatman Lil Bertha gas pump. A three-speed LencoDrive transmission supports power application, while a MSD Powergrid is in charge of controlling the motor.

Jack is very happy with how the Bel Air turned out after all the updates he ordered. The car wouldn’t be where it is without a lot of help and Jack wanted to make sure those who provided the support were properly recognized.

“I really have to thank Jason Cunliff for all his advice and help with the engine. He has been a great friend for many years. Kane Finn and Jeff Cutajar helped a lot with the car. Matt Czerny of Vinyl Wraps and Graphics and Craig Burns of SCF Race Cars played a big part in the construction. Without these guys I couldn’t have made the car.
