FRM Las Vegas 2022 Race Report
MCDOWELL BATTLE HARD ALL RACES
McDowell entered Las Vegas with a top ten finish at Daytona, and what should have been another Auto Club exit. With an electronics failure resulting in a DNF, the Stage Front team entered the weekend knowing the speed was on point and a good finish was in the cards. Working tirelessly on the car before and during testing, the aim was to get the settings right before qualifying and the race. Although he did not show up in practice or qualifying, a 22n/a The starting point quickly turned into so much more when the green flag dropped. Surpassing the top 15 and almost into the top 10, the speed of previous weeks showed. With the handling to the loose side, the team worked hard to get the car to their liking/
Leading the first four laps of stage two, McDowell continued to fight tooth and nail to hold off cars with newer tires as best he could. Unfortunately, untimely caution and a problem during a pit stop got them bogged down in the back. This cut off any hope of being able to make another push to the front. The team nearly bounced back, but an untimely warning with a speeding penalty got them stuck two laps down.
MCDOWELL ON LAS VEGAS:
“We had another very fast car for the first half of the race, we led laps and were in contention to finish well. “, but I’m proud of the speed we brought to the track to start our season. We’ll keep working, worrying about the bugs in the new cars and starting to get some good finishes.
