Expo 2020 unveils its program for people and the planet, mobilizing the global community to become agents of change
Expo 2020 Dubai unveiled the timeline for its People and Planet Program, an extraordinary program of events, experiences, thought leadership and public conversations that aims to find solutions to some of the most pressing issues. facing our world.
Designed with and for the global community, the People and the Planet Agenda will harness the connecting power of World’s Fair to catalyze a legacy of transformative change.
The People and Planet program will run across the full six months of Expo 2020, anchored in 10 thematic weeks and 18 international days, each exploring key issues of global significance. During thematic weeks, participants will explore solutions to critical global challenges, ranging from mitigating climate change and biodiversity loss and sustaining human habitats, to bridging the digital divide and achieving equality. access to education and health care.
Over 220 events will take place under the program, from large public forums and conventions to seminars and workshops. Expo 2020’s iconic platform for connecting minds, the World Majlis series will play a leading role, with 53 one-on-one sessions scheduled to engage visitors over the six months.
Drawing on the themes of technology and innovation, empowering youth and women and girls, the People and the Planet Agenda will bring together an unparalleled range of perspectives, fostering the exchange of impactful ideas. between leading experts (including wildlife defender Dame Jane Goodall, founder of Eden Project Sir Tim Smit and Her Excellency Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technologies and the woman behind the Emirates Mars mission), the 191 nations participating in Expo 2020, as well as business leaders, local actors and the wider global community.
Unlocking bold aspirations to shape a healthier, safer, cleaner and more equitable future for all, the program will demonstrate that each of Expo 2020’s partners, participants and visitors, whether they are physically attending Expo or participating remotely via virtual and digital channels, can – and must – become an agent of change.

The Expo’s cultural component, Build Bridges, will break down boundaries, harnessing the power of storytelling, art and music to foster intercultural dialogue and the exchange of knowledge.
The Expo’s social development track, Leave No One Behind, will highlight the importance of opportunities for all, asking the question: What can we do today to create a more equitable future? This track will also place special emphasis on gender equality and last mile communities at risk of marginalization.
Climate change is the most serious threat our planet faces – the actions we take now will have an impact on the environment we leave for future generations. The Live in Balance track will focus on how the global community can work together to restore balance with the planet.
In a time of global economic change, the Thrive Together track focuses on tangible business opportunities. It places the prospect of robust and resilient growth and productive partnerships at the center of Expo 2020.
Fifty years ago, the founding fathers of the United Arab Emirates devised a bold vision to shape a new future for their people. The fifth component, Vision 2071, focuses on the future and how anything is possible if we – the global community – work together.
Visitors to Expo 2020 will also be able to explore the topics covered in the People and Planet program by embarking on an organized visitor journey.
