Disney World Adapts to New Era, Eliminates Another Theme Park Experience
This quote from founder Walt Disney has been the guide for Disney parks around the world, as they adjust to the times: “We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we are curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. “
An early January report by Inside the Magic, noted that Disney Parks – in order to keep up with the times and keep moving forward and accomplishing new things – have had to make several changes over the years.
Disney reps confirmed with Inside the magic that the latest adaptation implemented by Walt Disney World is the withdrawal of the famous interactive game from the theme park Magic Kingdom Wizards of the Magic Kingdom.
Inside the magic quoted Disney representatives who made the following statement:
“Our mobile devices continue to play a vital role in the Disney theme park experience, and we are constantly innovating with new digital experiences on the go, such as Magic Mobile, the Play Disney Parks app and additional enhancements to My Disney. Experience. With the changes in the way our guests use mobile technology in mind and the demand for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom decreasing, we will be retiring this interactive experience on January 24th. The guests will then have to cast their final spells and help Merlin defeat the notorious Disney villains.
As of January 24, the interactive game has been retired.
For those who are not familiar, Inside the magic mentionned Wizards of the Magic Kingdom was a interactive treasure hunt which allowed the guests “to work with Merlin and prevent Hades from taking over the theme park.” The official description reads as follows:
“Hades has an evil plan to make Magic Kingdom park his new summer home. He enlisted a brigade of Disney villains – Cruella, Scar, Jafar, Maleficent, Ursula, Yzma, Ratcliffe, and Dr. Facilier – to help hunt down 4 enchanted Crystal Shards, which are hidden throughout the park. It’s up to you to foil their plans and save the day. ”
Inside the magic says the game used older technology and playing cards, which “seemed a bit outdated”, given that so much “is shifting to the use of smartphones, as well as to My Disney experience application (or the future Disney Genie). “
What could be next?
Inside the magic makes several speculations, as Walt Disney World continues to advance and adapt its offerings, including “a different kind of interactive scavenger hunt game, this time using an app specifically for the game and using more characters. updated such as Rapunzel and Mother Gothel, Anna and Hans, or even some Pixar characters such as Ian and Barley from Forward or Joe and 22 from “Soul”. “
Or maybe Disney World will come up with a whole new experience, like “a kind of trivia game that lets visitors search for little details hidden in the park that could be answered right on your smartphone – similar to Play the Disney Parks mobile app, ” Inside the magic suggests.
Or maybe the Play Disney Parks app “really is something that has replaced the need for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom or any similar experience,” Inside the magic mentionned.
Regardless of how Disney World plans to go forward, it’s sure to be magical.
