“I also want to pay tribute and thank the W Series, which is a brilliant championship without which I simply would never have had this incredible chance to work for such a great Formula 1 team.
“I will continue to race with the W Series this year and, despite my super exciting new position, I will remain fully focused on my heart with the goal of scoring as many points as possible in the 2021 W Series championship. “

“We are delighted to welcome Jessica Hawkins as the new Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 Team Driver Ambassador,” said Szafnauer. “So far she has not had it easy in her racing career, she still has to fight for the controls like all young pilots do, especially young women, and her determination to beat the odds is as obvious as it is admirable.
“Jessica has done well in the inaugural W Series 2019 season, finishing in the top 12 in the series standings, leading her to the next W Series season, which will take place on the support for eight Formula 1 Grands Prix this year.
