(Elora, Tennessee) Vintage drag racing legend also known as “the fastest man on HD”, Russell “Russ” Hendron will be the Grand Marshal AHRMA Drag Racing at the AHRMA Classic MotoFest at Heartland on the 29th. May 2021 at Heartland Motorsports Park, Topeka, Kansas.
The event is part of the AHRMA Classic MotoFest® in the Heartland (May 28-30).

He will also be in the NHRA’s winning circle after the drag racing program to present trophies to each race winner and runner-up.
âWe are really delighted that Russ Hendron is such an active Grand Marshall for our first classic drag racing event,â said Arthur Kowitz, Chairman of the Board of AHRMA. âHe’s not just going to sign autographs and say hello to fans, he’s actually going to run ‘Black Beauty’ for real. To see and hear this beast for a quarter mile will be amazing. “
“Black Betty” is a 192 cubic inch twin engine nitromethane Harley Davidson Ironhead owned by Ray Sender of American Air Cooled Motors of Louisville, Kansas.
âThis event is already a dream come true for me and with Russ who became Grand Marshal and racing ‘Black Betty’ too? Now it’s even more awesome. Said Luke Conner, who is Luke’s Racecraft, is the sponsor of the 2021 series. âIt’s an incredible chance to see two drag racing icons, a rider and his motorcycle, face off in a unique competition.
Hendron personifies vintage drag racing. In 1983 he built his first nitro-powered Harley-Davidson drag racing motorcycle and started racing the following year. He won four consecutive AMRA / HDRA National Championships from 1987 to 1989. He is still active in nitro fuel drag racing working from his Crazyhorse Garage shop in North Judson, Indiana.
